Arthur CRAWFORD (Capt.) sometime of the 9th Bengal Native Infantry, H.E.I.C.S.
Educated at Edinburgh Academy, at Rev A. de la Mare's Woolwich and at Rev. J.D.A. Crosse's, Bridgwater.
27th January 1844: Appointed ensign H.E.I.C. Infantry Service,
3rd October 1848: Lieutenant
18th March 1861: Captain (Aligarh Levy)
19th January 1865: Retired from Army without claiming passage home
Arthur was married 25th July 1848 to Isabella Eliza JONES (born c1834) daughter of John Benjamin JONES and Indigo Planter. They had two sons and a daughter.
He died in Sydney, New South Wales and is buried in Camperdown Cemetery
His Will was proved in the P.C.I. 28th July 1865 by Henry Crawford, Solicitor
His widow returned to Belfast with her daughter, (a least one, probably both sons having died in India), but later emigrated to Germany where she married DE LA CAMP
