John, son of Captain Arthur CRAWFORD and Theodosia WADDELL, married Harriette Macintosh in 1825 possibly in the Grand Turk Islands, West Indies. They had six children and started the New Orleans branch of the family

He died at his residence, orner of Bienville and Royale Streets, New Orleans and his Will was proved in Belfast on 21st February 1865 by Henry Crawford, solicitor. (his nephew, son of James and Ellen (née Ferguson)
