CRAWFORD Henry (Capt.)
Born 1st April 1816 Died 25 July 1890

Capt Henry CRAWFORD of 89th Regiment was the second son of William I of Cork and his second wife Mary Uniacke,.




He served with the same Regiment throughout his military career as follows:
9th October 1835: Commissioned as an ensign.
1st November 1838: Lieutenant.
23rd January 1846: Captain.

1838-41: West Indies
June/July 1841: Amherstburg, Ontario, Canada
1842-45: Naas, Clonmel and Cork (Ireland)
May 1845-June 1848: England
1848-1849: Templemore and Birr (Ireland)
4th January 1850: resigned.

An old letter book belonging to William Horatio Crawford which dates from 1853 to 1869 records private agency dealings with Captain Henry Crawford (his uncle). There is a possible indication that Henry also resided at Lakelands, Co Cork.

He died unmarried and is buried at Kilmore.
