Captain Hugh Carver was the second son of Frederick William Carver of Oakhurst, Knutsford, Cheshire. He married in 1910, Helen Mary SHARMAN-CRAWFORD and with other issue they had their son Robert Hugh Carver who was to change his name to SHARMAN-CRAWFORD in order to inherit from his Grandfather Col. Robert Gordon SHARMAN-CRAWFORD.
Capt Hugh Carver is described in a Daily Mail article about his son's inheritance, as a 'Manchester Cotton Merchant'.
